Have you got a personal intimate relationship with Jesus and is He the Lord and Master of your life?
In order to do that you need to put God in first place before anyone or anything and only serve God, as seen in Matthew 4:10.
Ask yourself the following questions.
Do I follow the Lord out of love for Him, or simply because I want to be saved?
Have I given my life to Christ and listen to the Holy Spirit’s teaching or do I follow someone else’s teaching?
Do I go to church because it gives me a good feeling, or do I go to worship God?
Have I put religion before God or have I put God in first place in my life and just listen to His voice?
Do I put God in first place or is money, ambition etc. more important to me?
Do I seek to do God’s Will or my own will?
Do I follow the Lord when I want to and compromise or do I refuse to compromise with what is wrong?
Depending on the answers to these questions, you will know if Jesus is your Lord and Master and if you have a personal intimate relationship with Him or not. If your answers have been negative, then you need to repent of your sins and attitude and ask the Lord to become the Lord and Master of your life and to instil a tremendous love for Him, and let the Holy Spirit fill you with determination and send the fire of His love upon you.
It is important to truly give your heart to Jesus and open the door to Him as seen in Revelation 3: 20 and spend some quiet time with Him, and ask the Lord to talk to you in your heart and confide in Him, and trust Him to help you, and open your eyes to enable you to find the truth. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you the Bible, especially the Gospels so that you get to know who Jesus really is so that you listen to His voice and can do whatever He would do in your place in all situations.
See how the Holy Spirit teaches us the truth in the following passages and how we have to obey Jesus: 1 John 2:27, John 10:27-37, John 16:13, Luke 12:12 and Luke 21:15.
Jesus wants you to abandon yourself completely to Him and be just like a tiny helpless child. He wants you to tell Him exactly how you feel and to completely lean on Him, and He doesn’t want you to be a hypocrite and hide what you don’t believe in, but He wants you to tell Him the truth so that He can help you. God is your Creator and your friend and He understands you totally, with all your strengths, faults, sins and weaknesses. He loves you so much with a love that is beyond all words and beyond comprehension.
