Grasping the Cross

Things once thought of with value,
Considered now as worthless;
For Christ is what you construe,
To honor as He will bless.

But it is better than that,
All else is worthless to me;
For Christ is Lord is the fact,
So I help others to see.

I am better off knowing,
Of Christ Jesus as my Lord;
As the only thing showing,
That can never be ignored.

Because of Him that I think,
All other things as worthless;
Better than having a drink,
That would cause me to transgress.

So I threw it all away,
In order that I could gain;
Resistance as not to stray,
Or using His name in vain.

For I really desire,
A relationship with Him;
And righteously acquire,
Feeling a spiritual vim.

I did not get approval,
Through obeying of His laws;
Because I need removal,
Of all my corrupted flaws.

Approval coming from God,
Will be based on faith and trust;
As well as honor and laud,
Then blocking your sinful lust.

Faith is knowing the power,
Of Christ and His coming back;
Although we know not the hour,
It is faith that we not lack.

Hold on to the cross of Christ,
Grasp on tight to reach your goal;
Let yourself not be enticed,
Causing you to lose your soul.
