In honor of the Fourth of July, I wanted to take a moment and focus on the only thing that could ever be greater or grander 
than America – Jesus Christ. All week long we have all been exposed to post after post about what America is all about or what it should be about and stand for. While some cultures are gaining more freedom, others are finding themselves in the spotlight for losing them.
With everything going on, I can’t help but focus on one word that is at the center of every controversy going on right now which is the word freedom. People all around the world have become convinced that America is the ‘Land of the Free, that our rights and liberties are unlike any other country’s allowances. Although this is true and indeed America is in fact beautiful because of it, there is something that I have seen to be absent in every argument lately.
The only true source of freedom in this world can be found through Jesus Christ.
I have seen argument after argument of what is right and wrong or accepted and not accepted. I have read words of hate, judgment, and ridicule. I have seen people get offended because they are receiving some sort of bully attitude from loved ones or total strangers who are on the opposite end of their views. I have seen relationships lost because someone took the argument too far and too personal.
I’m sitting here thinking when will this stop and when will these people around me figure out what the only genuine source of freedom could ever be aka Jesus Christ.
Any freedom that America provides is only temporary until the US Senate and Congress decide to make it any less acceptable or add to the freedoms. With Jesus Christ, your freedom is guaranteed for eternity and will never have any restrictions placed on it.
America was once and has always been a nation under God, whether it’s politically correct or not – it will always be under God. WHY? Because God is the creator of the universe and there is absolutely nothing that He can’t touch, fix, or oversee. To God, the Earth is nothing but a small ant farm, which the people of it are whom all He considers to be His children.
God could care less about politics or government leadership, all He desires is for us to know Him and follow Him. That is a freedom that no politician, leader, or country could ever take away. Yes there are some countries that prohibit having faith but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t individuals who’s hearts have been changed through the salvation of Jesus Christ.
He can reach the smallest of nations and the dustiest ghost towns – people who can’t escape the ruins they live in – yet they aren’t exempt from finding God and learning who Jesus is.
If we can take a step back from the political controversies and cultural differences, we can see where the purest source of freedom resides. We can take our country back to be a nation under God, we just have to work for it and change the focus of our energy.
God never promised that our freedom would be found in America – He said that it would be found where the Spirit of The Lord Is. For me personally, I would rather focus on that rather than a hope in a country’s leadership to improve. God only knows victory and He will provide it – that’s who I choose to stand behind and vote for through every election that comes around.
