A Treasure

Date:

I do not become discouraged,
Since God has given me this gift;
In fact I have been encouraged,
Inspired and write to uplift.

I refuse to use shameful ways,
For remaining within His grace;
Walking direct no secret maze,
For reaching to His sweet embrace.

Through His mercy I see the light,
And do not need tricks of the trade;
Because He has given insight,
Rendering others as to aid.

I would never distort His Word,
Merely speaking plainly the truth;
Everything I read and heard,
But not to be blunt or uncouth.

I know God watches over me,
And instructed me to reveal;
So others are able to see,
In knowing that the facts are real.

So if the Good News that I tell,
Hidden from those who are dying;
And being covered with a veil,
You might think that I was lying.

The god of this world blinds the mind,
Of the ones who do not believe;
They are rude and not very kind,
Do not construe what they receive.

In effect they see not the light,
Good News of the glory of Christ;
With a future looking so bright,
Blocking you from being enticed.

This message is not about me,
I am a servant for His sake;
Knowing that I have been made free,
From any clutches of the snake.

For my body is made from clay,
With the treasure of the Gospel;
Showing how to trust and obey,
Being told to all the people.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
