We are surrounded by so much,
So get rid of what slows us down;
The sin that is trying to touch,
While giving a phony crown.
The temptation that attracts,
While we are running the race;
As it will disrupt and distracts,
From reaching the Lord and His grace.
Run the race and never give up,
Remembering what lies ahead;
Drink not from the poisonous cup,
That will cause you to become dead.
We must focus on Jesus Christ,
The source of faith and our goal;
As to not to become enticed,
Allowing Him to save your soul.
Christ saw the joy ahead of Him,
So He endured death on the cross;
But His outlook did not seem grim,
Regaining life after the loss.
For His Father then had given,
The seat that was next to His own;
The high position in Heaven,
For ruling Heaven from the throne.
He kept resistance from sinners,
So you not be tired and quit;
Then you will become the winners,
Not worrying about forfeit.
You are struggling against the sin,
But your struggles have not killed you;
So you are ready to begin,
A life that will have new value.
Have you forgotten from the Word?
That you as a child were taught;
On the discipline as inferred,
For the love that is being sought.
