A Wise Son

Date:

A wise son makes his father glad,
A foolish one hates his mother;
Making the family feel sad,
While he despises his brother.

Folly is joy without much sense,
Since it will void any wisdom;
Insults others at their expense,
Costing someone else their freedom.

Without advice plans will go wrong,
Makes tragedy grow like a weed;
As the agony will prolong,
But with advisers will succeed.

A man is delighted to hear,
An answer coming from his lips;
And is willing to bend his ear,
For advice listening to tips.

The path of life for wise people,
Will lead upward into Heaven;
As a believer of the Gospel,
And salvation that is given.

The Lord will demolish the house,
Of someone arrogant and rude;
And cause suffering for his spouse,
For having a poor attitude.

The thoughts of an evil person,
Are very loathsome to the Lord;
As it could possibly worsen,
If letting it go and ignored.

Whoever is greedy for gain,
Brings trouble to his family;
For the agony felt from pain,
With possible fatality.

Righteous hearts carefully construe,
To consider how to answer;
To what they are certain is true,
With detail as an enhancer.

Fear of the Lord is discipline,
That leads to knowledge and wisdom;
Anything else will just cause sin,
Blocking their way to His kingdom.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
