Burning Boughs

Date:

In due time, Jacob will take root,
Israel will blossom and bud;
And fill the whole world with its fruit,
After the flowing of the blood.

God will hurt them as they hurt those,
Who have been causing hurt to them;
For the Lord is aware and knows,
Who to discipline and condemn.

He kills them as they killed others,
Punished by sending them away;
For what they did to their brothers,
Since they were leading them astray.

God removed them with a fierce blast,
As winds gusting out of the east;
And blowing ferociously fast,
In which was coming from the beast.

The wrongdoings of descendants,
Have been finally deleted;
For showing sincere repentance,
As Satan has been defeated.

For they will turn away from sin,
Razing altars of other gods;
So that a new life may begin,
All other idols are just frauds.

The mighty fortress is vacant,
The homestead is left deserted;
For the Lord has cast His judgment,
On the greedy and perverted.

I can see that calves will graze there,
Next to the sheep that will lie down;
Because the grass that they will share,
Be bringing life into the town.

They will be feeding off the boughs,
And when the boughs have become dry;
Heavenly feed that God endows,
Flowing down from Heaven on high.

Women will come build a fire,
As others will not understand;
But the command came from higher,
Renewing the boughs for the land.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
