This can be used for house groups or individuals. No one must teach, but only ask the Holy Spirit to teach them and then have a sharing together based on John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Matthew 23:9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
What is guilt and how do I get rid of it?
Does guilt prevent someone from being free and a true Disciple of Christ?
Is there any way that someone is not forgiven of their sins? See Genesis 3:11-13 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
If a person doesn’t repent of his sins then he can feel guilty because he hasn’t been forgiven. See Luke 13:3 3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.
Look how the good thief on the cross repented of his sins and was saved. Doesn’t Jesus Christ do the same for everyone?
Luke 23:39-43 39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
But what should I do if I can’t remember if I have repented of a sin or not?
What is the difference between guilt and a conviction of sin by the Holy Spirit?
Do you believe that you no longer need to feel guilty because Jesus Christ took your sins and punishment on the Cross to forgive you your sins so that you become as white as snow and that he doesn’t remember your sins anymore?
Isaiah 43:25 25 “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness and see John 8: 30-36.
Do you believe that on Judgment Day you will be held responsible for the sins you have repented of? See John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
