There is an amazing verse in the book of Galatians 5:1 it says…
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.“.
Man was created a free being to enjoy the creation and fulfill the will of God, which is again all about freedom. Could be freedom from depression, freedom from additions, freedom from jealousy, freedom from all evil acts, desires and any kind of sin. But the sin of the first man Adam delivered humankind into the bondage of sin.
Satan won for a short while, but Jesus Christ came to this world to retrieve what was lost for mankind – the eternal life!
He gave his life on the cross and became that eternal sacrifice, him being the blemish-less lamb of God was sacrificed on the cross to gain freedom for us all.
This verse talks about that freedom which the Lord obtained for us, which we receive when we believe in him and accept him as our personal savior in our lives.
But Satan is still at work, and is always trying to pull us back into his folds, back into sin, back into all the evil things which is the yoke of bondage. The yoke is heavy and can take your life for ever if we don’t take some conscious steps to get rid of that yoke, and to keep the yoke at bay.
The yoke of slavery or the sinful desires and passions can be kept away by coming to the presence of the power of the Word, and deriving comfort, encouragement and guidance from his Word. As we read “In the beginning was the Word, …and Word was God”
We live in this world, and this world is full of many evils, and as the word says in Ephesians 6:12
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
The battle will be there while we are in this world, and it is a constant “struggle” but with the power of the Word, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit we can win that battle.
If you are burdened with the yoke of bondage today, have any kind of sins that you have been struggling with, any additions that has been sticking on to you and pulling you down, pray with me now:
Dear Lord Jesus, I believe in the power of the Word, I believe that you gave your life for me to redeem me from my sins and give eternal life. I believe you gave your life on the cross for me so that I could get “freedom from my sins”. From this day forward help me Lord to “stand firm” and to fight this battle and to win over the struggles that try to pull me down. Because I know that “by your stripes I was healed”, and may I be able to rely on the power of you word daily and gain victory over all challenges and be successful in my life.
I pray in to Lord my God in Jesus Name.
