These are some of the toughest times in recent history. Every day you hear news of how the power of evil is engulfing the fabric of human society and creating a sense of fear around the world.
Yes, we had world wars, which caused lot of destruction and numerous lives were lost. But what we see now are seeds of evil that have been sown across the world, and like yeast in flour that ends up changing and affecting the entire flour it is percolating and affecting societies around the world.
The very unit of the “family” and it is structure the way God created and intended it to be is being challenged and people are getting lonelier and lost than ever before.
Hence these are also the times when the world really truly needs the “peace” which only the Word can give.
Isaiah 9:6 is what the world needs now…
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
In this season of Christmas take some time to reflect, and take some steps to change things around you, things you can influence, and things within “your” control.
Government on his shoulders:
Jesus Christ came to this world to “establish” the Kingdom of God in the world, which had lost its meaning, lost its essence. At a time of complex hierarchy and suppression of the Jewish society, and the strong ritualistic traditions of Jewish culture, Jesus challenged and established the Kingdom of Truth, Love and empathy. The foundations of the governments were shaken and the people were empowered to establish a direct relationship with God. He established a Kingdom which will not be shaken, and where citizens said “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?”
Wonderful Counselor:
In an age were people are becoming more and more independent, they tend not to take “counsel” from anyone because they think they can handle any situation themselves. You see more loneliness, more people being harmed emotionally or physically because people don’t know how to handle a situation, and become easily influenced by bad, corrupt ideologies which have long term negative impacts. The world needs the wonderful counselor Jesus Christ. His empathy, love for the lost, passion to serve embodies the ultimate example of “love”. His teachings inspired the hopeless, healed the sick, comforted the lonely.
Mighty God:
In a world where people do not want to believe in the existence of a creator, a super power even though they do not have answers to some of the very basic challenges they struggle with, the world needs to accept the existence of God. The God who created the heavens, the galaxies, the wonderful earth and all creatures thereof.
Once men and women humble themselves accept the greatness of God, they will feel more empowered like the citizens of any strong kingdom.
Everlasting Father:
The worst thing that anyone would experience growing up would be to grow up without a father. Once you accept the fact that you are not the most “knowledgeable” person in the world, you would surely be thrilled to know that there is a father up there who cares about you. And know that there is a life after death, your life on earth will end but God will continue to be with you into eternity. But yes you need to have lived a life that is aligned to the expectations of the “father”.
Prince of Peace:
The word “peace” and the reality of it continues to become a scarce commodity. The world needs peace, the seeds of peace need to be sown and evilness should be weeded out and overcome by goodness and love. Lord Jesus Christ was the ambassador of Peace. On the proclamation of his birth the angels sounded “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.“
In this season of Christmas let us stand for peace, and things that promote peace. And not take a soft stand of things that cause disruption, confusion and result in loss of peace.
If you are touched by this message, please pray this prayer with me…
“O Lord my God, I thank you for the wonderful gift which was You the creator of this world coming to this earth to lay down your life for me. Thank you for the eternal life you gave to me, and I am comforted to know that you are my Everlasting Father. When I am confused and need help, you counsel me and show me the way, because you are my Wonderful Counselor. When I am in distress you grant me your peace, because you are the Prince of Peace. I humble myself Mighty God, and bow down in your presence. And I know you are in control although many things around me, may seem to be chaotic. To you be the Glory, Honor and Praise- Amen!”
