How can a young person stay pure,
Being too young to know for sure;
If he remembers what he heard,
While holding on to the Word.
I sincerely search for the Lord,
For remaining in one accord;
And abiding within His laws,
So I do not get any flaws.
His promise treasured in my heart,
That will give me a brand new start;
So that I may not ever sin,
And start to corrupt me within.
Thanks be to O Lord our God,
To whom we give honor and laud;
Retaining the laws He has taught.
For rich treasure in truth as sought.
With my lips and tongue I repeat,
That is making me feel complete;
Every command in my ear,
Into memory what I hear.
I find such a joy in the way,
Shown as written how to obey;
More joy that is found in treasure,
Beyond any earthly pleasure.
I want to reflect in His light,
Study for making my life bright;
Never to stop learning His way,
With thoughts throughout both night and day.
His laws are making me so glad,
There is no way I could be sad;
Remembering all I have heard,
Not to forget His precious Word.
Wherewith shall a man cleanse his way,
To become pure and not to stray;
By taking heed within the Word,
Adhering to all that is heard.
I will meditate what is said,
Respecting all that I am fed;
As I delight myself with food,
That God gives for my attitude.
