Better Than

At one time you were once dead,
Because of sins and failure;
But what you needed instead,
The blessing of a Savior.

You followed the ways of here,
This world having a fooler;
Clinging to things you hold dear,
From a fictitious ruler.

So he continues to work,
Those refusing to obey;
So you think God is a jerk,
Not a problem for to stray.

All are living amongst them,
Having a corrupt nature;
Not knowing God will condemn,
Instead of a new creature.

For their corrupt desires,
Control what they want to do;
The pleasure it acquires,
With the thoughts that are not true.

Because of our nature,
We deserve anger from God;
The judge and legislature,
That causes you to be flawed.

God with His mercy and grace,
Because of His massive love;
Always willing to embrace,
Sending blessings from above.

We were dead from the failure,
But are alive now through Christ;
The Son of God and Savior,
On the cross was sacrificed.

God has brought us back to life,
Together with Jesus Christ;
Helping us to cope through strife,
And avoid getting enticed.

God made us for what we are,
Created us in His image;
For being a shining star,
Upon the heavenly stage.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
