Not many of you,
Should become teachers;
You cannot construe;
What the job features.
You know we who teach,
Are judged even more;
Professing to preach,
On what Christ stands for.
We all make mistakes,
Not being perfect;
Words that the mouth makes,
As some will reject.
Mistakes when you speak,
That someone else heard;
Will make them feel bleak.
Saying the wrong word.
Maybe use a bit,
Just like with a horse;
For the words to fit,
And to stay on course.
The same with a ship,
A rudder to steer;
Wrong words make you trip,
Like boats crash a pier.
Tongues are a small part,
That works with the lips;
Will not hear the heart,
And then the mouth slips.
Tongues are like a flame,
That ignites a fire;
When you do proclaim,
Your true desire.
Man tames all creatures,
But tames not the tongue;
For what it features,
Fire that is flung.
The same mouth we curse,
Is the same we praise;
What matters worse,
God hears it both ways.
