Citizenship

Date:

You were once far away,
But now through Jesus Christ;
No longer do you stray,
No longer be enticed.

For you have been brought near,
Because the blood of Christ;
Has shown you to revere,
To the one sacrificed.

So He is our peace,
In His body He made;
All hostilities cease,
No longer be afraid.

He ended the commands,
As to what Moses taught;
Alleviating demands,
That all the laws had sought.

So Gentile and Jew,
As one humanity;
And any sins for you,
Not as a vanity.

He brought them back to God,
One body by His cross;
All things that are flawed,
Are taken for a loss.

No longer foreigners,
Rather as citizens;
Being parishioners,
And as daughters and sons.

For you are now members,
The family of God;
No longer remembers,
What or how you were flawed.

Christ is the cornerstone,
Of your new foundation;
To whom sits on His throne,
Gave you your salvation.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
