To grasp wisdom and discipline,
To comprehend all the deep thought;
You must remember not to sin,
And be thankful for what you got.
Discipline of wise behavior,
Righteousness and justice as fair;
God will look on you with favor,
Through goodness and grace you share.
To give insight to the naïve,
And give foresight unto the young;
Knowledge for others to believe,
Proper words flowing from the tongue.
A wise person listens to learn,
To understand gains direction;
The more you gain the more you earn,
In order to have perfection.
For understanding a proverb,
And a clever saying of wit;
Will keep your mind feeling superb,
For the occasion that will fit.
The words of the ones, who are wise,
With all their idioms that will tease;
Are spoken to open your eyes,
Making your mind to be at ease.
The fear of the Lord is the start,
Of your knowledge going through life;
Knowledge implanted in your heart,
To cope with the toils and strife.
Stubborn fools despise discipline,
And knowledge of godly wisdom;
For they enjoy immoral sin,
Remaining deaf and dumb.
Your father and his discipline,
As well as what your mother taught;
Helps to remember what had been,
For guiding you to what you sought.
Because discipline and teaching,
Are graceful garlands on your head;
Which into your mind are reaching,
So your thoughts are nourished and fed.
