Morning Meditation

Date:

Open Your ears to what I pray,
Consider my innermost thought;
Listen, O Lord to what I say,
And the direction my heart sought.

Pay attention unto my cry,
Because I only pray to You;
Since I have been wondering why,
Politicians cannot tell true.

In the morning, Lord hear my voice,
I lay my vote in front of You;
Although knowing it is my choice,
I am confused on what to do.

I lay my ballot and I wait,
While I play this guessing game;
And be able to seal the fate,
Which candidate should I proclaim?

Are you a God who takes pleasure?
Of a ruler filled with deceit;
While hoarding all the treasure,
And not understanding defeat.

Those who brag stand not in Your sight,
Since you hate all troublemakers;
They are like a pandemic plight,
Infesting the earth as fakers.

Please lead me in Your righteousness,
Because of those who spy on me;
Calm my fear and my cautiousness,
With wisdom and insight to see.

For destruction comes from their heart,
As they flatter with lips and tongue;
Only the lies do they impart,
Deceptive songs are what is sung.

You destroy those who will tell lies,
With any deceitful people;
As cutthroat serpents in disguise,
That believe not in the Gospel.

But I enter the polling place,
As I will make my decision;
Because of Your mercy and grace,
For the person with Your vision.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
