Not In Vain

Date:

Flesh and blood cannot inherit,
Treasures of the Kingdom of God;
And not solely on your merit,
That decays from where you were flawed.

What decays you cannot receive,
Anything that will not decay;
Without faith, how can you believe?
Since you do not trust and obey.

Let us look back to history,
Why man does kill, cheat and will lie;
For I told you a mystery,
Because not all of us will die.

Because all of us will be changed,
It will happen in an instant;
A split second bodies exchanged,
Glory shining to be brilliant.

This is at the trumpet last sound,
As the dead will come back to life;
As they will become Heaven bound,
No longer with toils or strife.

They will change to live forever,
A new body not to decay;
And a bond that will not sever,
With God that will not stray.

This mortal body must be gone,
So that I can live forever;
With the coming of the new dawn,
For the eternal endeavor.

The Scripture teachings will come true,
How a new body does await;
With a new one for each of you,
A body that will seal your fate.

Death is turned into victory,
But within death, where is your sting?
It will be still a mystery,
Until you hear the angels sing.

But the sting of death has been sin,
The standards of God give sin might;
That you feel when death will begin,
And will end when seeing the light.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
