Our God

Date:

God is our refuge and strength,
Always present in troubled times;
To persevere a supreme length,
Guiding me from committing crimes.

That is why we are not afraid,
Even when the earth maybe quakes;
Because help is never delayed,
For the peace and comfort God makes.

Let mountains topple in the sea,
As they shake from the surging waves;
Roaring waters are flowing free,
Mortals go to watery graves.

Rivers are fed by flowing streams,
Brings joy to the city of God;
As His glory brightens the beams,
Of light through your honor and laud.

The holy place where God lives,
And where seated upon His throne;
He hears confession and forgives,
From the remorse that is shown.

God is in that city so strong,
It cannot and will never fall;
Because of its strength will prolong,
With a fortified rugged wall.

Nations are in chaotic gloom,
As many kingdoms may tumble;
The will of God opens the tomb,
As its idols are to crumble.

The earth melts at the sound of God,
As the new Zion takes its place;
Dissolving all things that were flawed,
Allowing Himself to shed grace.

Come and see the works of the Lord,
Devastation brought to the earth;
As war and hatred has been cured,
That is giving us a new birth.

Let go of doubts and your concerns,
He is our Lord God we know;
As a nonbeliever will learn,
The fate of your future will show.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
