I take refuge in the Lord,
Lets me not be put to shame;
And He has never ignored,
Whenever I called His name.
He rescues me and frees me,
Because of His righteousness;
He turns towards me as to see,
His glory and blessedness.
He is a rock for to live,
A place where I always go;
Compassionate to forgive,
For my heart will tell Him so.
He is my rock and fortress,
Freeing me from the evil;
My faults that I do confess,
Blocks the grasp of the devil.
The Lord is my hope and breath,
My confidence since my youth;
Saving from the grip of death,
Filling my mind with the truth.
I looked towards Him before birth,
And took me out of the womb;
So I will sojourn on earth,
Until I rest in my tomb.
My songs of praise always speak,
As a model for others;
Showing them on how to seek,
To be spiritual brothers.
My mouth is filled with His praise,
For His glory all day long;
As hands and voice I will raise,
Allows worship to prolong.
Now that I am gray and old,
As I start to lose my strength;
Just how my life did unfold,
I persevered at such length.
God did not distance from me,
Throughout my entire life;
For the future I could see,
As He helped me through the strife.
