Preparing the Child

Date:

Open up your ears as I teach,
Turn your ears to words from my lips;
Allow them in your heart to reach,
Let in your mind that each one grips.

Incline your ear unto the Law,
As my mouth illustrates points;
So that you no longer will flaw,
For lubricating all your joints.

In a parable long ago,
I explain dark sayings of old;
So that you understand and know,
As to how your life will unfold.

I utter sayings from the dark,
And have been hidden many years;
So you know where not to embark,
To understand and calm your fears.

Things we have heard and know about,
Things that our parents have said;
Things that we have shed so much doubt,
Things that desire us as dead.

We no longer be hiding them,
From the offspring of our loins;
Ensuring God will not condemn,
Unto the mate that one conjoins.

For the power and the great deeds,
Sounds as though of being perplex;
Merely it is something that needs,
Passed from one person to the next.

God gave written testimony,
So there would not be a mistake;
As not thought to be a phony,
His Word as not being a fake.

Then each generation will know,
As children will learn as the same;
And as they continue to grow,
They will be able to proclaim.

So remember what He has done,
While obeying His commands;
Having hearts loyal to the Son,
And following what He demands.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
