Not that I have reached my goal,
Or have completed the course;
I run to win for my soul,
With Christ is the driving force.
I cannot think of myself,
As being a winner yet;
With no trophy for my shelf,
That would cover up my debt.
So I will never look back,
While lengthening my stride;
His Spirit gives what I lack,
As I proceed to abide.
I run the straight and narrow,
Toward the winning of the prize;
And to finish tomorrow,
Win the wisdom that is wise.
Whenever faith is mature,
Then you are thinking this way;
Your confidence is secure,
Keeping from going astray.
God will show you how to think,
As to what we learned so far;
Be cautious as not to drink,
So it causes not a scar.
Imitate in what I do,
Living as an example;
And all that you should construe,
Conforming to the Gospel.
For I have often told you,
And will be telling again;
You must always remain true,
To the cross and what has been.
In the end God will destroy,
Someone that takes pride in shame;
For the pleasures they enjoy,
Seals the fate that they proclaim.
We are citizens of Heaven,
Merely sojourn on this earth;
New bodies to be given,
Experiencing new birth.
