We must get rid of the things,
That has been slowing us down;
Especially the sin that brings,
To us a painful thorny crown.
We must run to win the race,
That lies ahead and not quit;
And be rewarded through grace,
With a body that will fit.
So we must focus on Christ,
The source of faith and your goal;
Know why He was sacrificed,
And what it means to your soul.
He saw the joy just ahead,
And endured death on the cross;
Taking punishment instead,
As our gain for His loss.
Jesus ignored the disgrace,
That had been brought upon Him;
And torment He had to face,
As the day was growing dim.
He got the highest reward,
The throne at the right hand side;
As the position of Lord,
Soon to be meeting His bride.
Think about Christ, who endured,
Opposition from sinners;
To be everlasting Lord,
And soon we can be winners.
You are struggling against sin,
But struggles have not killed you;
Because of your discipline,
And enabled to construe.
Pay attention to the Lord,
When He has disciplined you;
And let it not be ignored,
For seeing His point of view.
He disciplines for your life,
Something that you must endure;
For the love that causes strife,
Is the love that loves you more.
