Reminder of a Fly

Date:

This is the tragedy,
Of all that does take place;
With the same destiny,
That each of us embrace.

For the hearts of mortals,
Are totally evil;
That have many portals,
Which lead to the devil.

Madness is in each heart,
While being alive;
When dead they not depart,
When Jesus does arrive.

But among the living,
There is plenty of hope;
Since God is forgiving,
And will help us to cope.

For we know that we die,
But the dead do not know;
Christ rescues where we lie,
When it is time to go.

There is no more reward,
As the dead fade away;
Memories of the Lord,
Never there since they stray.

Their love and hate and lust,
Passions already gone;
And all the worldly trust,
Has faded with the dawn.

They will never again,
Having to remember why;
Of the happiness when,
They swatted at a fly.

Enjoy your food and drink,
As you enjoy your life;
All the good times to think,
While loving your wife.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
