The Escape

Date:

God called you to endure,
Suffer because of Christ;
This is so to ensure,
Be no longer enticed.

For Christ suffered for you,
Leaving an example;
So you could then construe,
To be a disciple.

So then you can follow,
Through within His footsteps;
And remaining hallow,
In the hope as it preps.

Christ never had a sin,
He never did deceive;
Was purified within,
Spoke to you to believe.

Christ never spoke abuse,
To those who abused Him;
Only to introduce,
You to spiritual vim.

Christ never made a threat,
And never held a grudge;
But is leaving your debt,
To the one that will judge.

Christ carried our sin,
Upon Him to the cross;
Giving us discipline,
As we gain for His loss.

So we can live a life,
That God gives approval;
Through prayer for the strife,
Asking for removal.

We had been all lost sheep,
Could not find an escape;
Now through prayer we can leap,
For new life to take shape.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
