Those who sail on ships at sea,
Whose business is on the seas;
Have seen just how it can be;
How calm when God hears their pleas.
They have seen what God can do,
Miracles that He performs;
Calming the waves to pursue,
From all of the passing storms.
God spoke as the storm blows,
Making the winds to rise high;
A path that only He knows,
As the clouds darken the sky.
The sailors aboard the ship,
Rose on upward towards the sky;
As the waves crash down and rip,
Apart the boat as they die.
Courage fades in disaster,
When their faith does not exist;
To serve another master,
The wrath of God will persist.
They reeled and staggered like drunks,
Maritime skills were useless;
For they even smelled like skunks,
No discipline for God to bless.
In their distress they cried out,
To the Lord for their trouble;
Existence of God in doubt,
As hope did burst its bubble.
The Lord made the storm calm down,
As all the waves became still;
But the sailors all did drown,
With water their lungs did fill.
Let them bow before the Lord,
As they come before His throne;
To answer why they ignored,
The living God as their own.
