I look up toward the hills,
Where I may find some aid;
A place to give me chills,
And provide me some shade.
My help comes in the Lord,
Who made Heaven and earth;
And is loved and adored,
Giving me a new birth.
He will not let me fall,
Watching over His sheep;
And hears me if I call,
For He will never sleep.
I will never suffer,
For He is standing firm;
As He is my buffer,
Watching for the long term.
My shielder never sleeps,
Watching both day and night;
Any trouble He leaps,
If danger in His sight.
God is my guardian,
And also my keeper;
Even a scorpion,
Can be a grim reaper.
The Lord will be my shade,
Covered with His right hand;
As the sunrays evade,
What the heat does demand.
The sun will not beat down,
With the heat of the day;
A smile from a frown,
Praising God as you pray.
Nor will the moon at night,
Be causing any harm;
For His glory is bright,
For sounding the alarm.
The Lord guards from evil,
And is guarding your life;
From the coming devil,
To shield your soul from strife
