My head is raised above my foes,
I offer sacrifices of joy;
The music I play the Lord knows,
For the weapons that I deploy.
Hear me Lord as I cry aloud,
Have pity and please answer me;
Even come shrouded in a cloud,
So I am unable to see.
When You said for to seek Your face,
My heart responded unto You;
I am wishing You would embrace,
After You would come into view.
If You would hide Your face from me,
Do not angrily turn away;
For You assisted me to be,
No longer in going astray.
Do not abandon to forsake,
For You, O God, are my Savior;
I know the errors that I make,
Are not of my best behavior.
If my parents abandoned me,
I know my Lord would still take care;
For You always will hear my plea,
Every time I say a prayer.
So please teach me Your ways O Lord,
Lead me on the straight and narrow;
So I can be in one accord,
Today and through each tomorrow.
Surrender me not to my foes,
I know that they have many spies;
To bear false witness of my woes,
As they gossip and spread some lies.
I believe in seeing just good,
Within this world of the living;
And so I wait that the Lord would,
Strengthen my heart in His giving.
