Listen, Heaven, for I will speak,
As you hear the words from my lips;
Talking to You of what I seek,
What in my life that makes me trip.
Let my teachings come down like rain,
As my words drip like dew on grass;
So noncompliance causing pain,
Anytime that I may trespass.
I proclaim the name of the Lord,
Giving greatness that He deserves;
The rock to be in one accord,
With the honor that He preserves.
He knows that people are corrupt,
His children are having no shame;
Intolerant rage can erupt,
Using blasphemy in His name.
Is this how you repay the Lord?
Being so foolish and unwise;
His commandments have been ignored,
Working for Satan in disguise.
Remember a time long ago,
Think about past generations;
As all of your memories flow,
Thanking God for declarations.
When the Most High gave the nations,
Of the land that was divided;
Skills from various vocations,
In tribes remaining united.
But the people were of His own,
As you are His own possession;
Pleasing God for He must condone,
Transgressions as an obsession.
God found His people in a land,
In a desert and barren place;
He was guarding them on the sand,
As He gave each of them embrace.
Like an eagle stirs up its nest,
As it hovers over its young;
Spreading its wings letting them rest,
Sings a lullaby with its tongue.
