Things I once considered,
Valuable unto me;
Has long since been withered,
No more wanting to see.
I consider them worthless,
No longer as enticed;
Because I must confess,
As I just look towards Christ.
But it is more than that,
Knowing Christ is better;
Than just chewing the fat,
And being a debtor.
It cannot be ignored,
It has a lot more worth;
To know Jesus my Lord,
Who has given new birth.
For I no longer stray,
In the darkness of life;
Since I threw it away,
Along with all the strife.
For I did not receive,
By obeying His laws;
Rather faith to believe,
And confessing my flaws.
His power to preserve,
Until I hear the sound;
Persevere to the curve,
When I am homeward bound.
Curved after I am dead,
For I have confidence;
Come back to life instead,
At my new residence.
I have not reached my goal,
Or completed the course;
But Christ has won my soul,
And my powerful source.
I do not want to burn,
So I lengthen my stride;
Guided by what I learn,
To follow and abide.
