Loving Money

A godly life brings much wealth,
To people who are content;
An improved spiritual health,
Soon after you do repent.

We did not bring anything,
When we had been given birth;
And will have nothing we cling,
When we are leaving this earth.

So if we have food and drink,
And with clothes on our back;
It is the Lord you should think,
Since there is nothing you lack.

Those who desire the wealth,
Will fall into temptation;
And put God on the back shelf,
Along with their salvation.

They are trapped by desires,
That are stupid and harmful;
As destruction acquires,
Which is unavoidable.

To love money is the root,
Of many kinds of evil;
For tasting of the sweet fruit,
That is grown by the devil.

Some people will set their hearts,
To get rich wander away;
As their Christian faith departs,
Causing much grief as they stray.

But you must avoid these things,
And pursue what God approves;
Since a godly life it brings,
While darkness it removes.

So always fight the good fight,
Through gentleness to endure;
As you remain in the light,
Walking the path to His shore.

Take hold of eternal life,
In which you have been called to;
Leave the toils and the strife,
Given a life that is new.
