O Christ

Date:

On that day this song will be sung,
Out through the mouth it will be flung;
Fortified walls of the city,
Made it safe and looking pretty.

Open the gates let the righteous in,
The faithful which are free from sin;
Those keeping faith will be allowed,
The Lord has already endowed.

With perfect peace you will protect,
Those whose minds others will reject;
Because they do not have the trust,
Pleasuring themselves with their lust.

But you have to trust in the Lord,
Ensure He is loved and adored;
The Lord is an eternal rock,
As firm standing from where you walk.

He has brought down those who live high,
Towering city in the sky;
He levels it into the ground,
Thrown into dust without a sound.

Trampled by feet of the oppressed,
The footsteps of the poor in quest;
The footsteps of hapless needy,
Crushing down those who are greedy.

The righteous walk a level path,
The Lord will spare them of His wrath;
Because the One who is upright,
Has smoothed out the road in His sight.

We wait with the hope for the Lord,
The signs on the path are not ignored;
For principles are our guide,
As we follow as we abide.

I long for Him during the night,
To watch my soul when morning light;
Waking up to learn what is right,
As a blessing within His sight.

Although wicked are shown pity,
But not allowed in the city;
They do not see the majesty,
Being humbled in modesty.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
