The Promise

Date:

You have heard the way that the Lord,
Gave me responsibility;
For showing how He is adored,
And merciful benignity.

You have heard that He let me know,
The secret of revelation;
With all that He did have to show,
For acquiring salvation.

For I have already written,
About this all before briefly;
That your past has been forgiven,
While confessing sincerely.

You will see that I understand,
Of the mystery about Christ;
And to what the Father had planned,
After His Son was sacrificed.

This mystery has not been known,
By the people up until now;
And has been seated on His throne,
In Heaven where God did endow.

The Holy Spirit has revealed,
To His apostles and prophets;
The Book of Life that has been sealed,
Salvation is more than merits.

Salvation is not what was done,
To inherit from the Good News;
But honor the Father and Son,
For Gentiles not just the Jews.

The same body we all belong,
Sharing the promise made through Christ;
This is why we must get along,
Not letting rage to be enticed.

I am a servant for Good News,
The kindness His will has given;
His power has helped me to choose,
Reserving my place in Heaven.

I am the least of His people,
Yet God has shown me His kindness;
As I proceed to stay humble,
I profess through His blessedness.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
