The Spirit and the Word

Date:

Those who live by corrupt nature,
Will have a corrupt attitude;
Cannot become a new creature,
While being extremely rude.

But with a spiritual nature,
You have a positive outlook;
In Jesus as a new creature,
Knowing that God did not forsook.

The corrupt nature leads to death,
For feeling hostile towards the Lord;
Right up to the very last breath,
Like as though they have been ignored.

It refuses as it rebels,
Against authority of God;
Keeping company with devils,
They worship and honor a fraud.

It is impossible for them,
To please God if not in control,
No choice for Him but to condemn,
Discarding of the rotting soul.

But if His Spirit lives within,
The spiritual nature controls;
Keeping you free from any sin,
And strengthening as one extols.

Spiritual nature leads to peace,
As it follows you through your life;
Allows hostilities to cease,
As it copes with toils and strife.

If Christ is living within you,
Your body is dead from the sin;
But heavenly thoughts you construe,
Allows His blessings to begin.

Your mortal body lives again,
When His Spirit lives within you;
No longer bound by a sin chain,
Knowing the Word of God is true.

No obligation for to live,
The corrupt nature way of life;
Since the Lord is willing to give,
An alternative to the strife.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
