To Rest

Date:

I saw a new Heaven and earth,
Because the old ones disappeared;
In preparing for the new birth,
Through planning that God engineered.

Then I saw the Holy City,
It came in view at a new dawn;
The bride of Christ looking pretty,
Sitting down where the sea had gone.

Dressed like a bride who was prepared,
Coming down from God in Heaven;
With her husband a life be shared,
And the Father favor given.

There was a loud voice being heard,
God is living with the humans;
As it is written in the Word,
His home with them as in His plans.

Because they will be His people,
And God Himself will be with them;
For their belief in the Gospel,
Nonbelievers He will condemn.

From their eyes He will wipe each tear,
Every illness He will cure;
As He will calm every fear,
There will not be death any more.

There will not be any more grief,
No more crying and without pain;
To disappear for their belief,
With only pure thoughts in the brain.

He will make everything new,
As the beginning and the end;
For these words are faithful and true,
Not just your God but as your friend.

No need to worry about strife,
Nor ever worry about thirst;
He will give you water of life,
While in His Word be well versed.

Everyone wins victory,
With having their firm salvation;
Blest through the benedictory,
For building a strong foundation.

Richard Sherrer is actually retired from the United States Air Force about 14 years ago. He had lived in Korea while in the Air Force in 1972 and 1973. You might be asking yourself what brought him back to Korea. I guess you could say that it was a lot of love here, for the country, the people and especially for a Christian woman that he met on the Internet. She convinced him to return to be with her. So he came originally to teach English in July of 2000. They were married July of 2001. Now turned poet which is subject that is near and dear to his heart. His love for Christ and God is an inspiration to all who read his poetry.
